Washing one’s hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless means to side with the powerful, not to be neutral
Paulo Freire

A Brazilian professor and philosopher known for his educational theories and practice, Freire believed students learn best by asking questions and thinking for themselves, not just memorizing what they’re told. He taught hundreds of poor and illiterate workers to read and write in just weeks. His book Pedagogy of the Oppressed continues to be an important text for teachers and education scholars.
