A poet, essayist, memoirist, short story writer, and songwriter, Stafford links his poetry, teaching, and politics as searches for “how to be a good citizen in a troubled country.” A lifelong peace activist and influential teacher recognized for his contributions to Oregon literature, he is Emeritus Professor at Lewis & Clark College in Oregon. He served as Oregon’s ninth Poet Laureate from 2018 to 2020.
