A theorist, philosopher, economist, antiwar activist, and revolutionary socialist, Rosa Luxemburg wanted workers to unite and come to power. She became involved in underground revolutionary activities while still in high school, later helping found revolutionary organizations and newspapers in Germany, where she was repeatedly imprisoned during World War I. In 1919, she was murdered alongside fellow revolutionary Karl Liebknecht after supporting a workers’ uprising in Berlin. While the quote on this poster is widely attributed to Luxemburg, it is believed to be a paraphrase or possible mistranslation of her writing.
